There ‘ s nothing quite as annoying as being stuck in the middle of a task on the computer – be it a research report for work or just a regular chat session – only to have it freeze up, slow down intolerably or just plain crash. Unfortunately, computers can be tricky machines at the best of times so pinpointing ( let alone fixing ) the problem can be a daunting task. Here are some of the most common problems and how you can fix them.

Viruses

This is a big one. Viruses usually take the form of. exe files and are basically malicious software specifically engineered to destroy your computer. The best way to fight these is via preventative measures. First thing you should ( if you altar ‘ t already ) is install a reputable disavowing – virus software. The main problem with all the big name anti – virus programs out there is that a lot of viruses are specifically designed to bypass these programs because of their popularity. Personally, I recommend AVG – many nation a company more tech – savvy than I swear by it. When you get a decent anti – virus program you should regularly scan your computer or program the anti – virus software to regularly scan your computer for you if it has that feature ( it probably will ).

Another plan you can prevent viruses is simply by being extra cautious about what you download ( especially if it ‘ s a. exe file, though viruses aren ‘ t limited to. exe files ).

Fragmented hard irruption

Over time, your insoluble drive may become fragmented, thereby slowing down your computer. You should therefore de – fragment your computer every few weeks or so. Just go to the start menu – accessories – system tools – disk defragmenter.

Overheating

Computers can generate a lot of heat, especially if they ‘ re left on for long periods of time. A simple way to combat this is just to turn off your computer for a moment and give it time to ‘ coldish off ‘. If overheating is a recurring problem, you might want to look into investing in a larger cooling nut for your computer.

A corrupted registry

The most common computer problem BY FAR is a corrupted registry. In a nutshell, the registry basically stores all the information of all your computer ‘ s settings and configurations. Aside from being infinitely complex, the registry is also extremely fragile – tamper with unaccompanied of the countless. dat or. ini files contained within its various subfolders and you might just cripple your computer to the point where it ‘ s unusable. You don ‘ t even need to unlatched the registry to corrupt it. Every life span you install or uninstall extensive, another ( probably useless ) entry is added into the registry. Over time, these unessential entries build up, slowing down your computer to no end. In innumerable cases, all the computer needs is a simple registry scan to bring it back up to full functionality. Check my bio at the end for more info.

If the problem isn ‘ t forthwith apparent, just go through the list I ‘ ve set out above systematically. Chances are you ‘ ll find your problem and fix it. Easy is as easy does. Orange County Computer Repair

Writing in InfoWorld magazine ( 6 Jan 2003 ), Ephraim Schwartz said: ” The goal of IT, since its inception, has been the timely ( a relative term ) delivery of information to those who need it. Behind this goal is an unspoken belief in technology: If IT could deliver to its internal enterprise customers all of the information all of the time, it would be impossible for them to make a mistake. “

Understanding the difference between data and information

More likely than not, many of the folks working in your organization ‘ s IT department don ‘ t all told know the departure between data and information. To be fair, they are not alone: Multifarious people working as supervisors, managers, and executives probably don ‘ t recognize the difference between data and information either.

Data are the bits of information your various systems store. The system may be any kind of system – - not necessarily and IT – related system. Those aged metal filing cabinets still found around many offices store data, just like that 160 gigabyte hard – drive on your desktop computer stores the latest.

Information is data transformed ( e. g., gathered, analyzed, collated, sorted, coded ) to allow the user to rapidly digest and comprehend the implications of the underlying data for timely, accurate, and effective decision – making.

For for instance, a 300 – page report printed on green – bar paper, comparable an old mainframe computer used to facsimile out for us at a firm I worked at years ago, is erudition. Make no mistake, the data – - in the 300 – page statement – - contained everything we needed to know to make an effective decision. However, it its form as a report, it was not readily digested and comprehended for effective decision – making.

At another firm for which I consulted a few years ago, one of the firm ‘ s key production managers would take home several reports from their existing system almost every night. Working at home in the evenings, he would comb through these various reports and, using an assortment of colored highlighters, would mark up the reports with various colors to guide his production decisions the following day.

What was he doing? He was transforming data relaxation information.

The data contained in the aforementioned 300 – page balance could obtain been more easily digested and decision – making could have been faster and wider effective if the data had been presented, perhaps, in a chart, a graph, or plain reduced to some form of exception list.

Placing the information in its context

Instruction content may typically be broken down into three general classes for most organizations:

Operational data such as orders, purchases, inventory, and so forth; Process material such as schedules, routings, bills of material, logistics, and similar; and Administrative wisdom including accounting, customer lists, vendor lists, employee lists and increased. The data force, however, must be understood before effective decision – forging may be done for segment particular organization. The context of the data give the data meaning within the appearance where it is to be applied. The context includes selfsame elements as:

The organization ‘ s purpose, The organization ‘ s program, The organization ‘ s optics and mission, The organization ‘ s execution model, The design ‘ s capabilities and competencies, The organization ‘ s structure, The organization ‘ s policies and procedures, and The organization ‘ s values and culture. Clearly, depending on an organization ‘ s purpose or strategy or production model ( for example ), essentially the same data may intervention two different organizations to make equally effective but totally different decisions.

It should be part of every system ‘ s IT strategy to mandate the transformation of the whopper volumes of data being easy into information by their IT systems. This transformation, in itself, should be flexible, timely, and subject to ad hoc transformation, as well.

That ‘ s what business intelligence is all about. In today ‘ s world, this is all about survival, not just improvement or excellence.

” Business, we perceive, is now so complex and difficult, the survival of firms so hazardous in an environment increasingly unpredictable, competitive, and fraught with danger, that their continued existence depends on the allotment – to – day fitness of every ounce of intelligence. ” – - Konosuke Matsushita, founder of Matsushita Electric ( Panasonic ) as quoted in Managing on the Edge: How Top Companies Use Conflict for Competitive Accumulation by Richard Pascale ( New York: Simon and Schuster, 1990 ), p. 51

With your growing portfolio of videos, photos, music, artwork again creative projects, the ability to add more storage easily and cost – effectively becomes a necessity. You need something that ‘ s going to last. And whether you ‘ re a digital cd producer, a glowing designer or photographer, storage performance is jeopardous.

Before you go out and buy your next external drive, here are a few must – have storage criteria that separate the toys from the tools.

Nothing Does True Better Than RAID

For high – mechanism also / or data redundancy nothing is better than RAID ( Redundant Array of Independent Disks ).

RAID uses two or more hard disk drives enclosed in an external storage solution. For the too many techie folks, you can also build a Invasion exposure inside of your computer. However, the latter requires a bit more work so, for the purpose of this article, we ‘ ll focus on simple, plug and unrestraint external storage RAID. Here are some important terms to recognize when discussing RAID with your hard volley supplier:

RAID 0: Also known in that ” striping, ” RAID 0 provides ponderous capacity lie low the fastest possible sustained throughput – continuous large sequential read / writes. RAID 0 takes a file and spreads original across two or more drives to reduce the time it takes to write or read the file.

RAID 0 pays off in situations where speed is superlative, such as working with multiple streams of digital video. As you passable already know, when your interface or hard drive can ‘ t keep up with your system, your video can be butchered by dropped frames. To avoid this, a good solution is the G – Technology G – RAID 2 exterior drive. With capacities up to 2TB also specifically designed for the A / V market, the company guarantees simultaneous playback of multiple layers of video in real – time in Final Silhouette Pro, Premiere and Xpress.

RAID 1: When you invest countless hours besides dollars amassing hundreds of gigabytes of data, you would probably care more about data protection than speed. The easiest way to protect your data against accidental loss is to ” mirror ” the files.

This can be achieved easily with a two – drive extraneous storage reason. Whatever gets written to the first drive is automatically copied, or mirrored, to the second drive. This constituent if everything should happen to either disk, your data is still safe.

The G – Tech G – SAFE is an easy to use RAID 1 solution. If calamity strikes and a hard drive fails, you simply pull out the defective thrust bay, plug in a new hard drive, and the system automatically rebuilds itself, obtaining you back to a protected state in no time. Other RAID 1 hard drives require you to send the entire storage appliance in for repair if a mugging fails.

Keep It Cool

Hard drives hate heat, so product sort and overall product integration are important. Your data is your livelihood, you don ‘ t want to depend on shoddy hardware prone to overheating and premature failure.

Make sure your close external hard drive has an adequate cooling system. An external drive with an all – aluminum enclosure is ideal. The aluminum acts as a heat sink, pulling heat away from the drive for increased what’s what longevity and reliability.

Some drives also incorporate a ” smart fan ” to circulate disposition inside the enclosure. As the cognomen implies, when the seed senses that the drive is warm, it automatically turns on, keeping the drive cool. Another benefit of a smart fan is that it ‘ s only used when needed, keeping the drive quiet.

There Is No Such Thing now Too Much Capacity

Keep the future in mind. Your storage needs will grow.

Catching through example digital cd. Some estimates say that a single fling of captured DV takes anywhere between 13. 5GB to 15GB. And that ‘ s not including preview files or the memory required to exporting to DVD, which can add a few more gigabytes in temp files.

When selecting your peripheral hard drive, be sure that you have enough storage for the type of digital media content that you wish to store. If you need 1TB ( or 1, 000GB ) of external storage today, you ‘ re bound to need twice or three times that amount before you know embodied. If you ‘ re into video, here ‘ s a rough capacity guide from G – Tech:

Every 100GB holds up to:

9. 25 Hrs of HDV

7. 5 Hrs of DV25

1. 75 Hrs of DVCPRO HD

1. 25 Hrs of 8 – bit SD

1 Hr of 10 – bit SD

When adding a hard intrusion to your computer, make sure that your imperative internal hard drive ( C: ) is designated for the operating profile and applications. Unabbreviated other orientation – - including projects, captured files, graphics and audio – should be stored on a separate, external hard drive.

Future – Proof Your Interface

As with markedly technology, external storage interfaces improve cover time. Here are the most current interfaces and their maximum transfer ( burst ) rates:

FireWire ( 1394a ) – 400 Mbps ( megabits per second )

USB 2. 0 – 480 Mbps

FireWire 800 ( 1394b ) – 800 Mbps

eSATA 3. 0 – 3. 0 Gbps ( gigabits per second )

Based on these numbers, eSATA is almost four times as fast as FireWire 800 again eight times as fast as USB 2. 0. Ideally, your storage significance should accommodate all of these so you ‘ re prepared for whatever system or peripheral you decide to connect with drag the future.

The good news is that industry – leading external storage solutions offer a combination of interface choices again some even come equipped with all four, dubbed a ” quad ” interface clue.

Keep in conception that few workstations come equipped with an eSATA or a FireWire 800 port, therefore you may be required to install a PCI Controller Card. This is a relatively easy performance – opening up your computer may prove to be the most difficult part. But life for it. It ‘ s boon it!

Real – World Performance

While benchmark numbers, such being the greatest data transfer rate ( as stated superior ), can be used to quantify the raw performance of the external drive, they do not translate in to real – world performance.

Sustained throughput is what matters most. Let ‘ s take another look at cd. We all know that video is data intensive, especially when commotion with multiple streams. If the sustained data rate of the drive or interface dips below the required transfer rate for the video, the conclusion is jerky playback, messed up audio and dropped frames. You weakness a solution that ‘ s going to keep up with you.

Cleaning and Organizing Your Computer

It is a great idea to think of your PC as an office. It stores files, programs, pictures. This can be compared to an real office ‘ s files, machines and decorations. The operating system is the employer. With this image in mind, think of an office you ‘ve visited that was slow and inefficient. There were probably various different reasons for the inefficiency. This is the comparable with a computer. There can be many items that slow down your computer. Conceivably the one most commonly overlooked is disorganization and clutter.

Disk Cleanup

An office can gather a lot of unneeded files, machines, and decorations. This is the similar with your computer. One of the best ways to maintain this clutter under control is to perform a cleaning utility periodically. In Windows this cleaning utility will be called a ” disk cleanup. ” It removes a range of unnecessary files depending on the options you have selected.

To perform a disk cleanup on Windows XP you can simply click on ” my computer ” underneath the start menu. Than right click on your ” c drive ” or ” hard disk ” and choose properties. Than click ” disk cleanup ” and follow the prompts. When selecting files to clean up, or erase, Windows will give you info to assist you decide. When looking through the list of file types, you would simple click on the name of the file type and scan the description placed below in the description area. This will let you understand if the files can be safely deleted. To select the file group just check the box next to the group name. When completed selecting press ” OK ” to finish.

Now, performing a disk cleanup is not very day consuming, just a couple minutes, and it may save additional time in the end by making your computer run faster. However, a disk cleanup should be run periodically rather than just once in a great while. One way to make this run periodically is to make it a scheduled task. This will grant your computer to run it automatically with intervals and time of day decided by you. Yet, you can always run it yourself periodically without creating a scheduled task.

Add or Remove Programs

The material given above can assist you get rid of some unneeded files, but you may also need to wipe out some undesirable programs as well. This can be done using the ” add or remove programs ” utility in Windows. This is located in the control panel and lists all of your currently installed programs along with an option to uninstall them. It is a good idea to browse over the add or remove programs utility every once in a while just to make sure that all programs are of importance.

If qualified are programs listed that are no longer used, you can simply mark the program and click the uninstall button. Windows will than initiate the procedure to uninstall the program. In most cases, to complete uninstalling a program, it is smart to restart your computer. This will blow away and files that are held temporarily.

The add or remove programs utility is highly useful, but not all of the programs are listed up front. Programs that appear pre – installed on your computer and the Windows operating system can also be uninstalled. For example, Outlook Express is a default e – mail program that comes with the Windows XP operating system. If you do not use this e – mail program you can uninstall it. Click ” add or remove windows components ” found in the add or remove programs utility and simply follow the directions.

Defragment

Various offices contain a large number of files and programs that are beneficial and cannot be thrown away. In fact, they may have files that are not even used, but still have to be retained for some purpose. Although these files must maintain in the office, they need to be organized. This is why we organize file folders that hold groups of files that are related. Than we keep them in cabinets that are arranged in alphabetic order.

In a computer, the files that are saved are placed on the hard drive. However, they are placed according to the time that they were saved. So, if you open a word document and save the file as ” file A ” and than open another document and save it as ” file B “, you have a ” file A ” placed next to ” file B. ” This is fine, but if you open ” file A ” later on and save it again, than the added information is saved next to ” file B. “

When files are broken up this way it is referred to as a fragmented file. This means that the computer must recognize the first part of the file and then pinpoint the second part of the file to open that single word document. This can make your computer run slower. However, Windows has created a utility that is meant to rearrange files so that they are no longer fragmented but sit right next to each other.

You can run the disk defragmenter by selecting ” all programs ” under the start button. Next, select ” accessories ” and ” system tools ” and you will observe ” disk defragmenter. ” In fact, this is also an alternative way to select the disk cleanup mentioned earlier. Before starting the defragmenter you can analyze your hard drive to make out if Windows recommends performing the defragmenter. It will either say that you should or should not defragment at this time.

If you need to defragment your computer, simply hit the defragment button. It may take your computer a while to finish this task depending on the speed of your computer and the amount of defragmented files. It could take from about 15 – 30 minutes or more. However, you can still use the computer while the disk defragmenter is working.

Here in Orange County it is very important to have a solid technical structure If your computers are not running then how can you run a business. Computer repair here in Orange County seems to be very popular, but that quality of good support seems to be declining. Say your computer is broken and you need some repair work done, so you call the big name companies. They charge you a ridiculous amount then before you know it you may be having the same problem. You call then back and they charge you again. What type of computer repair or computer service is that. Im not for sure, but if you have a business running and are constantly having issues with your computer you realize how much money your truly are loosing. Then you have the companies that have “OK” Techs. Meaning well the job gets done but as far as service goes its not really prompt. It takes longer than ever but you feel that it would be more of a pain to replace that tech because they have been working on your systems for so long. That’s actually not correct at all, Sometimes you need someone to come in and have a fresh set of eyes. If your company is having problem after problem and you always seem to need your computer repaired that means something is wrong and you should not really have to go through all the pain and struggles of a badly working computer. In Orange County there are many companies who work on computers, and offer computer repair services. However I would say before you just choose any company you should make sure that the company has a nice portfolio. Also just because the owner has a great portfolio you need to find out who is actually working on your computer systems. Sometimes the owner of a computer repair company may boast about all the different qualifications that they have but when it comes down to the actual service they send one of there lower level techs out to work on your system. This is exactly what you need to steer clear away from. Also do not be afraid of price. For example some may charge $125 – $150/ hour for support and another company may charge $60-$80/ hour. Now in your mind your thinking that It would be such a better deal if you go with the cheaper price. However you get what you pay for, so when it takes the lower price computer repair shop 4 hours to do what the other person can do in 2 hours it starts to add up. Your time is more important so please do not think that you are saving money when not properly researching the company or person who is working on your systems. Always ask for a portfolio like stated above. Ok I will admit that it can get tricky when your paying a company a lot of money when there service is also not good, so once again I would say ASK FOR A PORTFOLIO!

Just when you thought that creating videos or recordings were such a hassle, and you had to have the right perfect digital camera. A pretty amazing product has hit the market (its not brand new but now openly available at your local stores) We are all familiar with what the world of disposable technology brought to us by the disposable camera world, well how about this. Disposable video camera! When will this make it too our market? It already has. Pure Digital Technologies has now released the worlds first one-time-use digital video camcorder. I have not had the chance to use one of these personally but will keep everyone updated once I do. If you calculate the price up, in my eyes its always better in the long term to purchase a normal video camera. You have too purchase the device, record your video, then take the camera to a special place too pull the data to a DVD if needed. That process is just way to long. I will keep you updated when I use the device, please feel free to post if you have hand the opportunity to try this product out.

Technology our love, our passion.

With technology on a rise, we realize the importance of staying up to date. 1 Change in technology can mean multiple new opportunities for your personal and business life. So our goal is too learn and grow.

As technological advances are brought upon us, we would like to have the opportunity to help you understand the features and benefits.
Just imagine 1 change, 1 product which produces results leading too you becoming 60% more efficient.
Can you use results like that?
Of course and so can I. In my eyes technology has become a fun sport. Many additions, subtractions and plenty of results. Our home town is located in Orange County Sunny California, and we get the opportunity too see all types of advances having some of the top Technical companies in the world here. I would love for you all to spread the word about this site, and visit as much as you can!

Welcome to our Blog, And have a great positive day!
